This Black Owned Loc Company Is Killing It, Here’s How

Lulu Pierre is a full-time beauty entrepreneur living in London. She’s also the creator of the incredibly successful company Boho Locs, which sells high-quality, stylish and reasonably priced loc extensions for black women. The company was founded in 2016 and, since then, it’s taken off and become one of the few black-owned companies with hundreds of sales and high revenue, despite spending little on marketing and advertising.

Boho Locs sells different types of loc packages, including the Mermaid locs, which are locs and wavy hair combined and the Goddess locs, which are locs only. With worldwide shipping from their warehouses in the USA and UK, it’s no question why Lulu’s consumer base just keeps on growing.

Boho Locs can be applied with crochet needles onto a cornrow base, but the cool thing about the company is that they don’t leave you hanging once you’ve spent your money and gotten your product. If you’re unsure of how to apply their products, they have plenty of after-care tutorial videos to help teach you how to insert your locs. These videos cover how to prepare your hair for your locs, how to care for your locs properly and how to remove your locs.

On the company’s website, they unapologetically advertise Boho Loc’s motto: “This Shit Is For Us”. This is not only because of the fact that their locs are handcrafted specifically for each customer, but because the company believes in the importance of building black businesses—and not just black businesses, black female businesses. Boho Locs also states that “more international hair brands that sell to black women need to be owned by black women” and we wholeheartedly agree.

Yet, for black entrepreneur hopefuls, it’s important to remember that success didn’t happen overnight for the company’s owner, Lulu. Before Boho Locs was all over Instagram, Lulu Pierre had been putting in the work. In the interview with BAUCE magazine, she reveals that she’s been an entrepreneur for over ten years, during which she had a hair salon and a number one bestselling book called Natural Hair Care for Girls.

When asked about the future of Boho Locs, Lulu Pierre said this in an interview with BAUCE magazine:

“We have huge plans for Boho Locs. It is going to include more lines, different products, and different programs for people to get involved if they want to collaborate with us and resell our products. We’re not going to go anywhere anytime soon.”
